New Long Shots addition offers Golf Suites, Toptracer simulator

Members of the Troy Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Long Shots Driving Range on Thursday, May 1, celebrating the long-awaited opening of a new half-million dollar addition to the outdoor driving range.

“Congratulations,” Troy Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Kathi Roetter said. “We wish you continued success, and thank you for making Troy, Ohio a destination for those who love to have fun, eat good food, and golf.”

Troy Mayor Robin Oda also attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony, presenting a gift bag from the city of Troy.

“We are so excited,” Oda said. “Thank you for doing business in the city of Troy.”

Long Shots is located at 2315 S. County Road 25A. The 300-yard outdoor driving range also features a full-service bar and restaurant, and the “Cigarden” cigar lounge.

Under construction since December of 2024, Long Shots’ new addition includes a total of 10 golf suites equipped with the state-of-the-art Toptracer golf simulator, which offers flight analysis, games and a wide variety of virtual golf courses.

“It’s phenomenal technology,” Long Shots owner Ben Johnson said. “There are dozens of different courses you can play; there’s tons of games. They have Go Fish for kids, and now they just added Angry Birds.”

“You get technology like you would if you were using a private simulator, but now you can do it outside,” Long Shots Golf Pro Wyatt Wilson said. “You’ll get all of your ball-flight stuff and your data; for every swing that you hit, it’s all tracked, and you can keep track of that yourself.”

The new addition features ten and twelve-foot suites, which are reserved by the hour. Registration is available online through the Long Shots website at www.longshotsoh.com.

“We’ll have servers down here,” Johnson said. “Each suite will have a QR code, where you can order directly from the suite.”

“We want people to have the ultimate experience down here, where their entire time that they’re paying for is there to enjoy that time, and not standing in line waiting on food or drinks,” he said.

The new addition cost approximately $500,000, Johnson said. The golf suites are also heated and air-conditioned, so guests can use the outdoor range in any weather.

“We’re going to be year-round,” Wilson said. “We do have heat; we’ve got air conditioners and fans in here.”

In addition to the new suites, Long Shots also features a full custom shop offering repair, fitting services, and Golf Pro services.

“We brought Wyatt in; he has the experience that we don’t have,” Johnson said. “We wanted to make sure that we have a professional here.”

A 2016 graduate of Tippecanoe High School, Wilson is a PGA member and has worked for the past eight years at a private club in Dayton.

“I’ll be offering private instruction, club-fitting services, and repair work, and I’ll kind of run day-to-day operations out here.”

“I’m excited to be a part of this opportunity,” he said. “The closest place that has Toptracer is down in Cincinnati, so this is kind of the next level for Longshots, and I wanted to be a part of it.”

“It took a long time to get to where we’re at,” Johnson said. “This was always the plan. We kept moving, we did it and made it happen.”

“There’s a lot going on here,” he said. “I think there are big things to come.”
