The Centered Foundation and The Yoga Barre & Co launch empowering program for 9-12 Year-Old Girls
Creating a Space for Growth, Health, and Positive Choices
“Mindful of Me” is a collaborative effort between The Centered Foundation and The Yoga Barre & Co. This new program is aimed at guiding young girls between the ages of 9 and 12, giving essential guidance for developing healthy habits, both physically and mentally, while creating a supportive community that fosters positive social connections.
Recognizing the challenges young girls face in today’s world, this program offers an opportunity for participants to learn what it takes to become the best versions of themselves. Young girls need help understanding the importance of making positive choices and how these choices impact their overall well-being—physically, mentally, and emotionally. The Centered Foundation and The Yoga Barre & Co have teamed up to offer a nurturing space where these lessons can be taught and experienced firsthand.
The program takes place in a non-judgmental, supportive environment where young girls can feel free to express themselves, build confidence, and support each other. By creating a space free of comparison, participants will be able to connect with their peers, learn the value of lifting one another up, and gain confidence in their unique identities.
Most of the classes of this five-week session are held downtown Tipp City at The Yoga Barre & Co while one class takes place at the youth location of Centered CrossFit. Throughout the program, girls will receive practical, hands-on lessons that focus on the following key areas: physical health, mental health, emotional well-being, and social support. Each of our sessions dives deep into one of these themes. We incorporate a discussion and activity on each topic as well as lead thirty minutes of movement each class. The movement, like the session topics, vary from class to class. Girls are introduced to a variety of exercises from yoga to CrossFit to barre. We also encourage journaling and end each meeting with a reflective piece.
With the understanding that this process takes time, mentors will lead by example, providing both inspiration and guidance as young girls explore their potential and discover the power of positive choices. These choices have to do with nourishing their bodies, cultivating positive self-talk, and understanding the importance of empathy, kindness, and creating healthy relationships.
Mindful of Me is currently finishing up its initial five-week program. Plans are underway to open enrollment for another spring session, and space is limited. The next session will be held on Sunday afternoons starting March 16 and running through April 13, 2025.
