Board approves superintendent and treasurer contracts
New contracts for both Superintendent Aaron Moran and Treasurer Dave Stevens have been approved by the Tipp City Exempted Village Schools Board of Education.
The contract for Moran was authorized by the board on Nov. 18, while the board OK'd the contract with Stevens during a Nov. 25 special meeting.
Both contracts are for three years, beginning Aug. 1, 2026, and continuing until July 31, 2029.
Moran's salary is listed in the contract at $165,000 a year. Stevens' pay is set at $155,000. The pay can be increased during the term of the agreement, but not decreased.
Both Moran and Stevens were hired by the board in 2023. Moran came to the district from the Versailles schools. Stevens, who previously had worked for Tipp City schools, returned from the Milton Union schools.
In written evaluation forms obtained from the district, Moran and Stevens both received good marks.
Moran’s review, based on a one to five scale with unsatisfactory as a one, four was above average and five as outstanding, Moran received marks of 4, 4.5 and 5.
The evaluation for Stevens was based on a needs improvement and meets or exceed expectations system. He received mostly meets or exceeds marks with suggestions he recommend new accounting methods as necessary and/or desirable. He was praised for moving the district forward in a positive direction and creating clear financial reports, among others.
During the Nov. 18 meeting, board President Amber Drum thanked both Moran and Stevens for discussing their performance with board members. “I personally don’t think that anybody should be put in front of other people and belittled or made to feel any way about anything,” she said. She said she has enjoyed private conversations (in closed board executive session) with both about things that board members might have concerns about or see as going well.
