Report: Multiple crews responded to W. Main Fire

On Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 6:18 PM, Tipp City Fire & Emergency Services (TCFES) responded to the 400 block of W. Main St., for a report of the smell of smoke in the residence. It was reported that a candle had been burning, but no flames were showing. An active fire was located in the second-floor bedroom. The fire spread in the walls and into the ceiling before our arrival. The fire was under control in approximately 15 minutes.

Upon arrival, Engine 32 found smoke conditions on all floors. Crews discovered the fire during their investigation. Engine 32 set the incident command, and crews performed fire attack and search in quick succession. The initial crew had water on the fire within minutes. Vandalia Engine 2 conducted a primary search. Elizabeth Township Medic 45 was on the scene to assist all firefighting personnel at the time of the fire.

Mutual aid was automatically dispatched per our standard response. West Milton, Vandalia, Elizabeth Township, and Bethel all responded with crews. Multiple TCFES personnel responded from home to assist. The crews extinguished the fire and performed a secondary search along with salvage and overhaul. Tipp City Electric secured power by pulling the meter. Center Point Energy shut off natural gas service to the home. The residents are displaced due to the fire and the utilities being secured. Red Cross was called to assist the displaced residents.

The area of origin is a bedroom on the second floor of the home. The cause of the fire is believed to be from a candle. Damages are estimated at $100,000 to the property and $20,000 to the contents.

No injuries were reported at the time of the fire-by-fire crews or the residents. Crews were on the scene for approximately three hours.
