City Manager’s Weekly Update
Please see the highlights from this past week along with some project updates that will impact the City in the coming weeks.
Parks Master Plan - This week, the City hosted an open house event to engage with residents and gather feedback on the future of Tipp City’s parks. While attendance was lower than hoped, we greatly appreciate the thoughtful and valuable input provided by those who participated. A community survey remains available online, and we encourage all residents to share their feedback to help shape the Parks Master Plan. The City’s goal is to receive at least 500 completed surveys from the community. Take the survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TCparks
Uptown Development - At Monday’s City Council meeting, an ordinance was approved establishing a new Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District that includes Tipp Plaza, the Long Property, and 1400 W. Main Street (the former greenhouse property). This TIF allows the City to leverage the increased property tax value from these parcels to help recover the City’s investment in acquiring the properties and to support future infrastructure needs in the area.
The TIF was approved in cooperation with the Tipp City Board of Education, a great example of partnership between the City and the school district. Over the life of the agreement, the TIF is projected to generate approximately $2 million in additional revenue for the school district.
Holiday Tree Lighting - The City is now accepting applications for the 6th Annual City Park Holiday Tree Lighting, which will take place beginning November 26th. Those interested in participating can submit an application along with the $75 tree fee by November 20th.
This festive tradition is a wonderful way for families, businesses, and community groups to help light up City Park for the holiday season. For questions or more information, please contact the Municipal Services Department at 937-667-6305.
Hydrant Flushing - The Water Department continues its annual hydrant flushing program, which will continue through October 14th. Hydrant flushing is an important preventative maintenance activity that removes natural sediment from water mains and ensures fire hydrants are functioning properly.
