Construction Updates: Pickleball, Bus Barn

Construction Corner: Pickleball in Kyle Park, Wright Patt Bank Breaks Ground, and Alley Paving

Things are hopping in Tipp City with lots of new and continuing construction projects. We’re tracking many of the projects on our website, so check out the Tippecanoe Gazette website at www.tippgazette.com and click on the Construction Map for our latest updates, photos, and drone footage.

Pickleball Courts nearly complete in Kyle Park

Tipp City has nearly completed the new set of pickleball courts being built in Kyle Park. Located on the site of the former skate park and basketball court, the new pickleball courts have been finished and painted. According to the City Manager, the courts are nearing completion, with the surrounding areas being seeded recently, and the courts have been sealcoated and striped. “While we wait for a few final finishing touches, we plan to open the courts for public use next week. Once all work is fully complete, we will schedule a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the project’s completion.”

And speaking of parks, the first Steering Committee meeting was held recently and was very productive. A community survey is now live, and the city encourages all residents to participate and share their input to help shape the future of Tipp City’s parks system. Visit the city’s website for more details.

Nevin Coppick Leveled, new Bus Barn begins Construction

Nevin Coppick has been completely demolished and the area covered over with dirt and gravel. Construction has started on the bus barn being built on the western side of the school property south of LT Ball and west of the former site of Nevin Coppick.

According to the school superintendent, “former Nevin Coppock Elementary site has been cleared and is now being prepared for the detention pond and temporary staff parking that will ease congestion and improve safety. Construction is well underway on the new bus garage and maintenance building. This modern facility will better serve our transportation team and ensure our buses are maintained and ready for students each day. The new building will provide our maintenance team with a safe, centralized, and functional workspace, replacing the current run-down facility and giving them the resources they need to care for our schools more effectively.”

Asphalt Resurfacing

According to the City Manager, asphalt resurfacing work was recently underway throughout the city. This year’s program also included resurfacing the temporary pavement on South Hyatt Street. This year’s project focuses on the following areas:

- W. Broadway and W. South Street

- S. Hyatt Street and S. 7th Street

- E. Broadway and E. South Street

- S. Third Street and S. First Street

The condition of alleys across Tipp City remains a priority, and the City plans to continue making improvements annually to enhance accessibility, safety, and overall infrastructure quality.
