Water rescue conducted at Otterbein

On October 10, at 5:59 p.m., Tipp City Fire & Emergency Services (TCFES) responded to 4375 S. County Road 25A, Otterbein Senior Life Community, for a report of a female stuck in a pond behind one of the buildings. Initial reports indicated the woman was halfway in the water but able to breathe. A male bystander on scene had attempted to assist but was unable to remove her.

Rescue 31, Engine 32, Car 33, and Boat 31 responded to the scene. Upon arrival, crews located the female near the edge of the pond on the east side of the property. Access to the pond area was gained through an unlocked gate.

Crews made quick contact with the individual and successfully assisted her from the water within minutes of arrival. The patient sustained only minor scrapes and did not appear to be seriously injured. She was evaluated by Tipp City medics and released from the scene.

Tipp City Fire & Emergency Services cleared the scene at approximately 6:16 p.m. No injuries were reported to bystanders or responding personnel.

The swift response and coordination of first responders quick action by witnesses, contributed to a positive outcome in this incident.
