Sarah George is tuning into her future

Tippecanoe High School has successfully produced another class of outstanding students, each ready for whatever the big new world has to throw at them. For some, this summer will be spent easing into the workforce, and for others, it will be spent packing for school and saying their goodbyes. For Sarah George, this summer will be spent reminiscing on her impressive high school career and preparing for the next four years of experiences and achievements.

It’s no secret that Sarah has an ear for music and a passion for the arts. Outside of her impressive accomplishments as a senior officer of the Octagon Club, a member of the Red Devil Rally Team, and the National Honor Society, she spent much of her high school career dancing or with a flute in hand. George was an active member of many musical and theatrical activities.

Sarah enjoyed all of her high school endeavors, from the Indoor Percussion Ensemble to the Carillon Park Concert Band and the Muse Machine Orchestra. However, what she coveted the most in her high school experience was being a part of the Marching band. The two-year woodwind section leader says, “As the next generation of the band begins, I hope that the culture I’ve helped foster as a person in a leadership position carries on. I hope that the group that was my safe space for four years can continue to be others’ as well.”

The dedicated flutist, marimbaist, and dancer looks back at high school with one fond memory that towers over the others. This past year, Sarah and the rest of the Tippecanoe Marching band competed in the Bands of America competition at Lucas Oil Stadium. This was Sarah’s final performance with the marching band that she had poured hours and years of her life into, and it is a memory she and many other former band kids keep close to their hearts moving forward.

Music is something Sarah plans to carry with her as she leaves Tippecanoe. This upcoming fall, the incoming University of Dayton freshman will begin studying Music Therapy. George will spend four years combining her passions for both music and psychology and learning how to incorporate those skills into a therapeutic setting.

Sarah is most excited to dive into the music therapy classes, as well as prepare for practicums, a form of supervised therapy work that she’ll participate in during her sophomore year. George also has goals to continue her band career at UD as well as meet new people, which was her favorite part of her leadership roles in high school.

Sarah George is dancing into her bright future after an exceptional career at Tippecanoe High School. As for the upcoming 2029 class, she says, “High school moves so quickly, even though it doesn't seem like it, so go to that dance, dress up for those spirit days, and join that club you were thinking about. It's so much more fun if you embrace what you can.” Tipp City is excited to see Sarah embrace the University of Dayton and is proud to call her a 2025 THS alumnus.
