A purchase of the CD titled ‘Home for the Holidays with The Collegiate Chorale’ will not only provide some beautiful music, but also assist Amy Tackett in traveling to New York City to perform in Carnegie Hall.
A member of the Collegiate Chorale at Wright State University, Tackett will be joining the group on the legendary stage for a February 16 performance.
The 2011 graduate of Tippecanoe High School is ecstatic over the chance to take the stage at Carnegie Hall. “Every singer would feel honored to have an opportunity to sing at this remarkable venue. I can’t even explain how excited I am to go on this trip. Although I’ve been to New York before, this trip will certainly be different and leave a large memory for me,” said Tackett.
The Collegiate Chorale will be performing Vivaldi’s Gloria under the direction of Hank Dahlman for the February 16 event. During the songs third movement, Tackett is especially honored to share a duet with her dear friend, Sara Lefeld.
Another experience Tackett has enjoyed with the Collegiate Chorale is the recording of the CD. It contains many holiday favorites such as Silver Bells, I’ll Be Home for Christmas and Auld Lange Syne. For Tackett the CD will serve as a special memento of her time with the group. “I think it’s always a wonderful opportunity to get to document and record how myself and my classmates are sounding at this time in our lives. It will be great to look back on and have memories of the years I’ve spend with this group,” she said.
On the CD, Tackett has a solo on the song entitled ’The Gift.’ Tackett is grateful for the chance to display her passion for music. “It means so much for me to be able to share my love of music with so many others listening, especially on such a gorgeous song,” said Tackett.
To order the CD, go to www.wright.edu/music and scroll down to ’The Music Store’ which is on the left hand column. Then click on the box that says “Collegiate Chorale Holiday Album” Make sure you put ’Amy Tackett’ in the comment section and she’ll be credited $10 towards the New York trip for each CD purchased.
For any contributions Tackett is eternally grateful as it’s an assistance in helping her to achieve her musical dreams. “These trips are memories that will last me a lifetime and it will be such an amazing journey. Anyone contributing will have given me their hope to succeed in my passion and future, and that means the world to me,” said Tackett.
In tune with her goals, Tackett is determined to fulfill her dream and allow her voice resonate for all to hear. “I am always telling my friends and family different options and paths I could lead my life with, all involving music. Some may think that a music performance degree is not going to get me a steady job after school, but honestly, I can’t see myself doing anything else. When it’s your passion you are willing to go the distance, no matter the cost,” she said.
