Bethel Township road crews have used about 100 tons of salt so far this winter compared to 100 tons used all last winter season, township Administrator Andy Ehrhart said late last week.
The township buys its salt through Miami County and fills its salt bin as needed. The township crews were called out for the first winter weather response at about the same date as last year but have been used out more frequently to respond to inclement weather, Ehrhart said. “Our crews have done a fantastic job of keeping up with the snow events,” Ehrhart said. “The only problem has been the snow with the very cold temps with this last snow. Salt is very ineffective with the very low temps.”
The township plans to continue to be aggressive with plowing and stay had of snow events, he said.
