Joe Solch was elected president of the Bethel Board of Education and Scott Lawson was elected vice president during the board organizational meeting Jan. 8.
New board member Brian Moore was sworn in during the meeting, which was delayed two days because of inclement weather.
The board also voted to continue paying board members $125 per meeting with a maximum of 12 meetings a year.
And, the board agreed to appropriate $20,000 to the service fund to pay expenses of board members or their official representatives when sent out of the district for performance of their duties. Solch noted that while the money is set aside each year, the board “never uses near that amount.”
