The purchase of a new vehicle for the Tipp City police chief is in the works.
City Manager Jon Crusey notified the city council last week that he would authorize the purchase this week unless he heard objections from council.
The vehicle, a Ford sedan Interceptor would cost just over $24,000. Crusey can OK purchases less than $25,000.
Chief Eric Burris discussed the new vehicle with council at the fall budget review. Burris said at the time that he would like the chief’s vehicle to be more like a cruiser so he could help officers on the streets if needed.
The police department also is scheduled to receive a new SUV cruiser this year. That vehicle costs more and will be before council for its approval, probably yet this month.
