Superintendent John Kronour told the Tipp City Schools Board of Education the Rachel’s Challenge program coming to the Tipp City schools would be “a great opportunity for our kids.”
The UVMC Foundation announced earlier this month it would sponsor the program in all Miami County schools beginning in 2014-15.
Rachel’s Challenge is based on the writings and life of 17-year-old Rachel Joy Scott, the first of 12 students and one teacher fatally shot at Colorado’s Columbine High School in 1999. It is a series of projects designed to combat bullying and address feelings of isolation through the use of kindness and compassion in everyday dealings.
Kronour said the program is one he thinks, “Is very worthy to bring into our district.”
