Everything has fallen into place for Erin Jans.
A volleyball player since middle school, the Tippecanoe senior who holds the single season blocking record with 77 blocks, signed a letter of intent Friday to play at West Liberty University.
Located a dozen miles north of Wheeling, W,Va, West Liberty is a perfect fit, according to Jans.
"I like the campus and the coaching staff," said Jans, who played four varsity seasons as a Red Devil, mostly as a middle hitter.
She plans to major in physical physiology at West Liberty a Division II school in the Mount East Conference.
Her college coach, Kayla Petsko, recruited her after seeing her play with an off-season club program before Jans senior year at Tippecanoe.
"She saw me play, I went for a campus visit and liked everything I saw," said Jans, the daughter of Brian and Lori Jans.
She made her college decision before the start of her senior year in the Red Devil volleyball program.
Jans also likes the fact that one of her club teammates, Sydney Schear of Brookville High School, is also a West Liberty recruit for next season.
"That will be good having Sydney on the (West Liberty) team," Jans said.
Red Devil volleyball coach Howard Garcia praised Jans as a competitor.
"Her demeanor, attitude and goals are got her where she is," said Garcia, who coached Jans for the 2013 season. "It was a privilege and an honor to coach her."
Jans played for four coaches in her Red Devil career. She played for Pat Carus as a freshman, Kelley Koons as a sophomore and Alexis Detrick as a junior.
The West Liberty coaching staff, according to Jans, will likely use her talents as a hitter -- either as an outside or middle hitter.
Detrick, who attended Friday's signing, credited Jans as "a very coachable player,"
"I've played all three positions before, so I'll be ready to play wherever they need me," Jans said.
