Mitch Colvin scored twice, and Wade Timmer added two assists and a goal as the Tippecanoe boys’ soccer team cruised to an easy 6-0 win over Ben Logan at the Tipp Park last week.
“We did a good job moving the ball and keep possession,” Tippecanoe Scott Downing said. “We created a lot of chances and the score could have been worse. We hit the top bar three times in the first half.”
Colvin scored at the 30:49 mark of the first half off an assist from Peyton Smith to give the Red Devils a 1-0 lead.
Timmer then scored at the 8:06 mark off an assist from Colin Tateman, giving the Red Devils a 2-0 lead at the half.
Colvin scored again in the opening minute of the second half, taking the ball about 50 yards out and driving in to score. At the 19:21 mark, Andrew DeBrosse made it 4-0 off the assist from Timmer.
Alex Taylor added the fifth goal for Tippecanoe as Timmer earned the assist, and Jacob Niswonger closed out the scoring at 7:58 with Tateman getting the assist.
“We were much better on the attack and execution in the second half,” Downing said. “We played better and more accurate.”
“That was our seventh shutout, and our defense is playing solid. Adam Greishop moved back to defense this year, and he has made us better in the back,”
“Wade had another good night, possession the ball and creating chances, and this was one of Mitch’s better games, he was the most dominant player on the field tonight.”
Also last week, Tipp beat Graham 9-2. Colvin and Niswonger each scored twice, while Smith led with three assists.
*Tipp Girls Soccer- The shutouts continued for the Red Devils, picking up a 4-0 win over Graham, and came back with a 2-0 victory over Ben Logan.
Against Graham, Cassidy Wasson scored twice for the Red Devils, while Allie Wasson continues has solid play with another goal. Lauren Lester also scored for Tipp.
Cassidy Wasson scored he first goal on a long shot with an assist from Amanda Sauls. Her second goal was also 25-30 yards out. Allie Wasson made a run after dishing the ball to Hunter McKinney, then she got the ball back for the score.
“Allie has stepped up and is playing good on the outside, she is in the right place at the right time,” Tipp coach Brandon Baker said. “She has been a big help for us with her speed and skills. She has an eye for the goal.”
Lester also scored for the Red Devils.
Also last week, Tipp defeated Ben Logan 2-0. Lauren Lester scored for Tipp off an assist from Lexi Polanski to give them a 1-0 lead at the half.
At the 19 minute mark of the second half, Allie Wasson scored again off a pass from Lexi Blair.
“We weren’t challenged defensively tonight, Clare Hinkle didn’t even have a save in the goal,” Baker said.
