The Tipp City Area Community Foundations (TCACF) held their annual Donor Reception in downtown Tipp City on September 10. Jim and June Kyle, lifelong Tipp City residents, were awarded the Philanthropists of the Year award by the Foundations.

The Kyles have spent their years working, living and serving in Tipp. Giving back to the community has been a family quest since their marriage in 1961.

As president of Rotary International, Jim lent his time, talent and influence globally. At the same time he used those same resources locally as the president of Tipp Foundations and Tipp City Board of Education. Additionally, he served on the boards of First National Bank and Brukner Nature Center.

He was also named Citizen of the Year.

June was a longtime organizer of the Tipp City Mum Festival Pageant and Senior Girls’ Tea, president of the Civic Club, and National Secretary for Children’s International Summer Villages (CISV). Both have invested in Tipp City and made it a better place to live.

Jim said, “We’re grateful for this award. We love Tipp City.” The Kyles received a painting by local artist Logan Rogers, commissioned by TCACF, given in appreciation for their service.

Since 1943, the Tipp City Area Community Foundations has awarded $1,832,868 in grants, as of December 31, 2014. Members of the Distribution Committee are Jim Ranft, chair, Heather Bailey, Dave Grim, Claire Cain Timmer and Jackie Wahl. Other trustees include Mary Bowman, Jesse Chamberlain, Joan Creech, Mike Lightle, Jim McKee, Marilyn Richards and Pete Schinaman.
