The Monroe Township Trustees passed a motion at their September 21 meeting in support of a five-year 0.45 mill Miami County Bridge Renewal Levy. This levy is for the purpose of construction, reconstruction, resurfacing, and repair of bridges in Miami County, including those in Monroe Township.
This board also agreed to purchase 18 additional parking regulation signs for replacement in township subdivisions where signs are missing, faded or damaged; and to pay current township bills totaling $16,013.75.
At their bimonthly meeting, the trustees heard updates on progress with the campaign for the Senior Citizens 1.0 Mill Levy that will be on the ballot November 3, and with the Deer Cliff entrance sign installation.
In reports it was recorded the September 18 Monroe Township building’s 100th anniversary tour numbered approximately 55-60 people attending the event. It was stated many were interested and surprised by all the multiple uses of this community building for the past 100 years, particularly the stage where the auditorium was located.
It was noted that township offices and facilities will be closed on Monday, October 12 in observance of Columbus Day. Also, the township’s cemetery clean-up is scheduled to begin the week of October 19. Decorations should be removed by Sunday, October 18 and winter decorations and floral arrangements may be placed beginning Sunday, November 1.
The next trustees meeting will be held 7 p.m. Monday, October 5 in the township meeting room, 6 E. Main St., Tipp City.
